The reason behind Musetti’s heartbeat tattoo: what does it mean?
The curious story of Lorenzo Musetti’s ink as he plays number 2-ranked Novak Djokovic in the 2024 Wimbledon semifinal.
22-year-old Lorenzo Musetti faces one of the most biggest moments of his career on Friday afternoon, facing Novak Djokovic in Wimbledon’s 2024 semifinals. This match represents a rematch for the Italian youngster after his defeat against Djokovic in 2021′s Roland Garros, in which he let a 2-0 game advantage escape and had to withdraw with physical issues during the final set.
Musetti’s journey throughout this tournament has been outstanding. The Italian player surpassed Mpetshi Perricard in the round of 16 (3-1) and defeated 12-ranked American player Taylor Fritz in a five-set battle in the quarterfinals.
Before that semifinal match against Fritz, the ATP produced a special report on the Italian player, and one of the more curious details was where Musetti talked about his distinctive heartbeat tattoo on his left arm.
What does Musetti’s tattoo mean?
Musetti explained that his uncle is a cardiologist and asked him to record his heart frequency: he then chose a section of his own heart rhythm to be tattooed on his left arm. What’s more, he decided to add a tennis racket to the heartbeat, highlighting the importance of tennis in Musetti’s life and symbolizing that this sport runs throughout his veins.
