The U.S. team defeated the International Team on Sunday, claiming the 2022 Presidents Cup at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Americans entered Sunday Singles leading the all-time series 11-1-1, and weathered an early opposing surge with consistent play across the lineup. The International Team found some drive on Saturday, and entered Sunday’s finale trailing 11-7.

Jordan Spieth, Sam Burns, Patrick Cantlay, Tony Finau and Xander Schauffele all had wins that secured the United States’ victory.

Spieth led U.S to ninth straight win

With Spieth beating Cam Davis to go a perfect 5-0-0 on the week, the 29-year-old became just the sixth player in event history to go undefeated in such way. He also got his first singles win in either a Presidents Cup or a Ryder Cup.

It feels really good,” Spieth said of his win. “I was more nervous than I probably should have been today just because I want to get that monkey off my back. I tied [at the Ryder Cup] last year, but I hadn’t gotten [a] win yet.”

While Si Woo Kim made three birdies in his final five holes to get Justin Thomas, Patrick Cantlay topped Adam Scott to get a second point for the U.S. in his singles match. Then Tony Finau rallied late with four birdies in his final six holes, topping Taylor Pendrith, and bringing the team only one point from victory Schauffele followed with his big move, whipping out an up-and-down from a lie on the 15th and took the lead over Canadian Corey Conners to seal the whole deal.
