Update:

McLaren’s Lando Norris is in control of the 2025 F1 title race as the Briton leads team-mate Oscar Piastri by 24 points in the World Drivers’ Championship standings, after the Australian’s fifth-placed finish in Brazil allowed Norris to extend his advantage by 15 points.

Giong into the Las Vegas race, both Norris and Piastri, who are pursuing a first career World Drivers’ Championship, are being chased by four-time title winner Max Verstappen - but the Red Bull driver has only an outside chance of adding a fifth F1 crown to his collection.

The Dutchman produced an amazing race to take third in São Paulo, despite starting from the pit lane; however, he lies 49 points behind Norris.

Anticipation, once again is high as ‘Sin City’ prepares to host it’s fifth F1 Grand Prix with local businesses expecting another financial bonanza.

2024 Vegas windfall

The 2024 Las Vegas Grand Prix generated approximately $45 million in total state and local tax revenue and an estimated $934 million in total economic impact for the Las Vegas area.

Net visitor spending was reported at roughly $336 million and is the amount spent by visitors directly attributed to the event (hotels, food, entertainment), after accounting for “displaced” visitors who avoided the city because of the race.
