Tiger Woods has eye on the PGA prize

After a surprising and miraculous return at the Masters last month, Tiger Woods is right back to rigorous training again, looking ahead to the PGA Tour.

Update:

Tiger Woods went into the Masters last month not knowing exactly what to expect after recovering from injuries he sustained in a car accident that left him unable to even walk on his own for several months. He ended up finishing 47th, which was his worst finish at Augusta National, but it didn’t matter. The fact that he was able to play professionally again was for him a huge victory.

“It was hurting but I pushed through it,’’ said Woods. “It was more mind than body. I said, ‘I’ve won with a broken leg before. Keep on going out there, keep pushing’”.

He will now play his second tournament since that car crash in February 2021 as he participates in the PGA Tour. He arrived on Sunday and played the front nine and played the back nine on Monday. After practicing on Tuesday, he spoke to the media about his return and how he’s feeling.

“There’s going to be limitations,’’ he said. “There’s a lot of hardware in there and there’s going to be limitations to what I’m going to be able to do, but I’m going to get stronger. I don’t know how much that is or how much range of motion I’ll ever get back. But sure is a hell of a lot better than it was 12 months ago.’’

Woods will play the first two rounds with Rory Mcllroy and Jordan Spieth on Thursday at 9:11 a.m. ET.
