Topuria challenges McGregor: what did the UFC champ say to ‘The Notorious’?

The Spanish-Georgian fighter reacted to McGregor’s threat on X and challenged the Irishman, who is staying in Spain these days.

Conor McGregor is spending some days in Spain, and the former double UFC champion is making his Spanish fans go crazy in excitement with his presence in the streets of Marbella, where he’s staying these days.

The Notorious, who is expected to return to the octagon in the upcoming months to finally take on Michael Chandler in a much-anticipated clash between the two The Ultimate Fighter 31 (TUF31) coaches, appeared at the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship (BKFC) Spain Press Conference to talk about the event, which will take place for the first time on Spanish soil, as he’s now a part owner of the promotion.

During the presser, reporters asked McGregor several questions, including the possibility of taking on Khabib Nurmagomedov in BKFC, but the Dublin native refused that idea, stating the Russian is retired and the fight won’t happen.

Topuria’s response to McGregor: what was ‘El Matador’s challenge?

Things got a little heated up when he was asked about the current UFC featherweight champion, Ilia Topuria. The Irishman didn’t bite his tongue and revealed his plans.

“Slap the head off [Ilia Topuria] no problem. No problemo. I’ll slap him back to Georgia”, he said.

As expected, Topuria didn’t like McGregor’s comments and didn’t hesitate to respond to the charismatic MMA fighter.

“Pinky toe! Welcome to my home. It’s great seeing you working for us! Come to Madrid, and we will see who slaps who. Topuria Knuckles for dinner”, El Matador said.

Both fighters had already previously exchanged insults and threats on interviews and social media, and now fans want their hostility to be taken to the cage for a super fight that everyone would like to see.

While McGregor is expected to recover from his last injury and fight Chandler, Topuria will likely face Max Holloway in one of the biggest UFC events of the year. Once they have fought their opponents, UFC president Dana White could try to make the clash happen.
