Topuria’s scary warning to Holloway: what did the UFC champ say to ‘Blessed’?

The Hawaiian answered Topuria after the Spanish-Georgian stated the BMF titleholder didn’t want to fight him.

Update:
The Hawaiian answered Topuria after the Spanish-Georgian stated the BMF titleholder didn’t want to fight him.

Although it hasn’t been official, the Ilia Topuria-Max Holloway potential super fight is getting more reasons to become a reality.

Since El Matador became the featherweight champion by knocking out Alexander Volkanovski in the second round at UFC 298, Topuria and Holloway have maintained a war of words on social media and interviews, as both men are expected to meet inside the octagon shortly.

However, although Topuria accepted Holloway’s challenge to face each other in the cage, nothing is official, and nobody has signed any deal.

Topuria revealed in the presentation of his movie Topuria: Matador that Holloway has made excuses for not signing the contract. The Hawaiian responded on social media, saying he has always been ready to step into the cage to fight for the featherweight title against him.

“At first, it was confirmed I was going to fight in the Sphere. Then, I was informed that Max Holloway had some family issues and that he couldn’t lose weight because he wanted to move up to a heavier category...”, Topuria said to AS. Everyone assumed that Topuria’s first title defense would be with Holloway on September 14 at The Sphere in Las Vegas, but things haven’t played out that way.

“Guy is just making things up at this stage, I have been ready”, Holloway answered on his X account. Each fighter a través de su cuenta de X. Each one shared a different version, but Topuria insisted on his.

“Choose a date, choose the way you want me to beat you, and write it here. I am ready to turn off your lights whenever and wherever. Call Dana (White),” he said.

Topuria’s threatening message to Holloway

But their social media battle didn’t end there. ‘El Matador’ threatened the former featherweight champion from 2017 to 2019 -until Alexander Volkanovski beat him-.

The Hawaiian has never been knocked out, but Ilia is confident he will be the first to do so. “God bless you brother. I have nothing against you! But It brings me great joy to be the first to disconnect you... it seems fun,” El Matador said, although everything is on standby for now.

Holloway earned the right to fight for the featherweight title after brutally beating Justin Gaethje at UFC 300.

Blessed was the best man over the five rounds, but in the final seconds of the fifth round, he decided to exchange punches with the former BMF champion in the center of the octagon, sending him to the canvas to win by knockout.
