Travelers Championship 2024 Round 3 Saturday tee times and pairings
After leading the first round with eight under, American Tom Kim continued his steady game in the second round, adding an under-five performance.
In the 2024 Travelers Championship, after the first round, Tom Kim shared that his birthday wish was to play a good round of golf. He celebrated his birthday by achieving just that, scoring 5-under par. Despite missing a couple of 10-foot putts early on, including an opportunity for an eagle, he bounced back with three consecutive birdies on holes 8, 9, and 10. When reflecting on the round, he played down the idea of a momentum shift, stating that his success was due to sticking with his game plan and executing well on a hot day.
“I wouldn’t say it was a momentum shift,” Tom explained. “I had some difficult putts early on but stayed focused on my game plan and played well.”
Today, he made ten shots within 15 feet, creating several scoring opportunities. Looking ahead to tomorrow, Tom plans to refine his game with a short practice session and get some rest. Regarding birthday celebrations, Tom mentioned that he and fellow golfer Scottie Scheffler, who finished the day with six under and sits now at T2 together with Morikawa and Bhatia, had pizza at Sally’s last night and might continue the tradition tonight, depending on their schedules.
Xander Schauffele, who this year is second on the tour in strokes gained/total, ninth off the tee, fifth in approach to the green, and 17th in putting, shot a second consecutive five-under-par 65 on Friday at TPC River Highlands, placing him tied for fourth, three shots behind leader Tom Kim, as he heads into the weekend of the signature Travelers Championship.
