Turki Alalshikh fires back at Canelo: what did he say about the Mexican?

The Mexican fighter rejected Alalshikh’s offer to make the Crawford fight happen and asked him for $200 million.

Saul Alvarez will fight Edgar Berlanga in September after months of looking for an opponent and rumors about him potentially taking on Terence Crawford in a mega-bout.

During all this time the Guadalajara native was very vocal about his intentions of fighting David Benavidez or Terence Crawford, saying he would only accept a clash if he was offered a minimum of $200 million.

After a few contacts with the chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, Turki Alalshikh, both men didn’t get to any deal and it was reported that the Canelo vs Crawford showdown wouldn’t happen.

Turki Alalshikh hits back at Canelo: what did he say?

After negotiations between Canelo and Turki Alalshikh broke, their relationship seemed damaged, especially after Canelo stated he was ready to work with him but only if he met the Mexican’s economic demands.

“I respect everybody but I don’t like the way [Alalshikh] talks. It’s his problem, not my problem. I didn’t ask for a fight. If he wants a fight, he needs to do it my way, and not his way”, Alvarez recently said.

After hearing those comments, Alalshikh didn’t hold back when asked about Canelo and their talks for the Crawford fight.

“[Canelo] said he doesn’t like what we’re doing in boxing”, Alalshikh said.

“This is why I said what I said, and I mean it. If he was a wise guy, he would understand the message, if he’s wise. His ego takes him, let him do his way”, he added.

Alvarez admitted days ago he’s in a position where he can ask what he wants after a long and successful career. He stated he’s the cash cow in the sport and wants to take advantage of it by choosing interesting fights from a sports and financial perspective.
