Tyson’s coach says Jake Paul will panic when he starts feeling the punches

Rafael Cordeiro believes that the younger of the Paul brothers will be in trouble when Tyson starts connecting with some power punches.

Rafael Cordeiro believes that the younger of the Paul brothers will be in trouble when Tyson starts connecting with some power punches.

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul will battle it out on July 20 and the fight is getting the attention of the entire boxing community.

Predictions on who is going to emerge victorious in a fight that never would have imagined to happen have started to come up from different boxers and experts. While many think that the social media celebrity and boxer has an important edge when it comes to age, others believe that Iron Mike still possesses the power to trouble the much younger fighter.

Paul started boxing in 2018 and since then he has been evolving in the sweet science. Although he has been criticized for cherry-picking his opponents, he has only lost once, against Tommy Fury, out of the 10 fights he has been involved in so far as a professional.

The Problem Child’s priority was to get to an agreement with Fury to get a rematch signed, but the younger half-brother of heavyweight world champion Tyson Fury rejected Paul’s offer.

After two impressive wins against Andre August and Ryan Bourland last time out, nobody saw the bout against Tyson coming. While many have stated that this is a mismatch that shouldn’t take place due to the 30-year difference between them, many others will tune in to see the showdown.

Tyson’s coach: “Jake Paul will panic”

Tyson, who retired from boxing in 2005, was last seen in a ring back in 2020. It was in an eight-round exhibition match against Roy Jones Jr. Both men offered a good, competitive fight that ended in a draw.

Despite being 57, quite a few videos on social media show an in-form Tyson with great movement and scary power. Will those skills be enough to get the job done against Jake Paul? His coach, Rafael Cordero, believes that the former heavyweight king still has what it takes to come out on top.

This fight won’t be a massacre, it’s going to be a very technical match because we have a kid on the other side that can box and isn’t afraid,” he said to MMA Fighting.

“Mike has such heavy hands, and it will be impossible not to touch Jake. Jake will feel Mike’s hands, there’s no other way, and that’s when we will have an idea of how the fight will go. It’s going to be interesting to see”, he added.

Panic, he will panic. That’s the goal. Our goal is to keep Jake in a panic the entire fight. Or for as long as he can take it”, Cordeiro predicted.

Despite being confident in Tyson, Cordeiro also praised Paul’s improvements as a boxer:

He’s doing great fights against great champions, facing good opponents, and building a relatively good career, not only financially speaking, but in terms of entertaining. And on the other side, we have [Tyson], who carries many generations with him”.

Although the fight against Tyson is expected to be a huge success in terms of attention and revenues, the Cleveland native doesn’t probably have much to win. He’s the taller, way fresher boxer, who should also have better stamina, so his fanbase would likely not increase exponentially in case of a victory, but at the same time, Tyson is still a threat despite being 57 and could knock Paul out.
