There have been new leaders at the US Open for the third consecutive day. Will Zalatoris and Matt Fitzpatrick hold a share of the lead going into the final round on Sunday.

Zalatoris and Fitzpatrick have matching scores of four under par. Zalatoris posted a three-under 67 at Brookline on Saturday to move to four-under alongside Fitzpatrick. The Englishman carded a 68 on Day 3.

Rahm in contention

Defending champion Jon Rahm is a shot off the pace after a frustrating finish on Saturday. Rahm looked like he was going to be the leader heading into Sunday. He had three birdies in four holes from No. 14 to No. 17, dropping his score to five-under.

But it went badly wrong for Rahm on No. 18. The Spaniard found the bunker and his first shot to get out of the sand didn’t clear the lip. His frustrating finish to the day saw him card a double-bogey six to fall into third place at three-under.

We are in for a thrilling Sunday with even more change at the top of the leaderboard expected. There hasn’t been a third-round leader or co-leader that went on to win the US Open since Gary Woodland in 2019.

Final day pressure

The US Open is often the toughest major championship of the year in terms of course setup. Pressure is also a huge factor even if the leaders from Day 3 have found their groove. It’s a mental battle hole after hole.

Since Dustin Johnson’s meltdown at Pebble Beach in 2010 five third-round leaders have gone on to lift the US Open Trophy.

The final round will begin at 8:49 am ET on Sunday. The final pairing of Zalatoris and Fitzpatrick will tee off at 2:45 pm ET.
