Usyk ready to fight Fury for free
The Ukrainian champion can’t wait to face the ‘Gipsy King’ as soon as possible, while negotiations about their unification fight haven’t been finalized yet.
WBA, IBF, and WBO heavyweight titleholder Oleksandr Usyk wants the Tyson Fury fight to take place as soon as possible.
The undefeated fighter has admitted several times he’s ready and up for the challenge against the Brit superstar, who’s looking to keep making history in boxing by trying to defeat The Cat.
Although the negotiations seemed to be almost finalized, the truth is it all comes down to the Saudi moneymen and their willingness to come up with the cash needed to close the deal, according to boxing promoter Bob Arum.
“If the fight ends up in Saudi Arabia, each fighter will make his deal with the Saudis.”, he said.
“Usyk’s people tell me they have a deal they’re satisfied with. And if the Saudis are truly interested, they’ll make a deal with us for Tyson Fury, and we’re off to the races. The fight would take place either before or after Ramadan, but the fighters don’t need a long window to prepare”, he added.
Caged in this situation, Usyk didn’t bite his tongue and sent a clear message to his potential opponent.
“You say that I avoid you, although I never have, and in fact, I’ve come to you. I’m ready to box with you even without any prize money!”, he said.
Usyk active on social media
Usyk, who defeated former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua twice, couldn’t help but send another message to Fury to make clear his willingness to share the ring with him.
“Fury, you talk about greatness in boxing. At the same time, you say, ‘give me a lot of money.’ Greatness in boxing is not determined by money; greatness comes from a victorious path,” Usyk wrote.
Moreover, the Ukrainian great has also uploaded some videos on the Tik Tok and Twitter platforms where he’s calling Fury Belly, in reference to the Gipsy King’s absence of a sculpted abdomen to start selling the fight.
However, if somehow the super fight doesn’t happen, Arum stated that Fury has several options, one of whom is Joe Joyce.
Usyk has already proved he wants the fight. Does Fury want it as bad as the former cruiserweight king? In any case, the only sure thing is that the fight will only happen when the contracts are signed. The question is, when will that be?
