What are the current PGA rankings before the Augusta Masters?

In preparation for the first Major competition of the season, the Augusta Masters, we take a look at the present player rankings.

Scottie Scheffler of the United States.

After the dramatic final round of the 2024 Valero Texas Open, Akshay Bhatia defeated Denny McCarthy in a playoff to claim his second PGA TOUR victory. In July 2023, he earned his first PGA Tour and first European Tour victory by winning in a playoff at the Barracuda Championship. The intriguing part of his second PGA Tour victory was that he did it with a shoulder injury he had conceded during the last regular round. Akshay Bhatia threw out his shoulder while fist-pumping a birdie putt to force a playoff at the Valero Texas Open – to the level where he asked for treatment on the first playoff hole.

Bhatia won the Valero Texas Open in a playoff hole at TPC San Antonio. He hit his second shot on the par-5 18th and took a timeout to be taped up by physiotherapist Aki Tajima before hitting a wedge shot to 6 feet for birdie. McCarthy hit his third shot into a creek, took a penalty drop, and missed his bogey putt. Bhatia made his birdie with three putts for the win. This win secured Bhatia’s participation at Augusta and earned him 500 FedEx Cup points, putting him in the 13th position on that list.

In the latest golf rankings, Scottie Scheffler remains the clear number one, with Rory McIlroy unsurprisingly taking the second position. Rahm (although in LIV Golf), Clark, and Shauffele complete the top 5 in the World Golf Rankings. The entire tournament reminded me of Scottie Scheffler’s mid-round neck treatment during the second round of last month’s PLAYERS Championship, where the defending champ pulled off his second straight victory at TPC Sawgrass.
