What are the Thursday pairings at the 2024 Presidents Cup?
Jim Furyk and Mike Weir attended the media as pairing were announced for the Day 1 at Royal Montreal Golf Club in Canada.
Team USA go in search of their 10th straight Presidents Cup triumph this weekend as the biennial tournament returns to Royal Montreal Golf Club in Quebec, which last played host in 2007.
The United States have not been beaten in this competition since Peter Thomson guided the International team to victory in Melbourne in 1998, with the 2019 edition ending in a tie.
Schauffele eyeing third consecutive title
US team captain Jim Furyk selected six players: Keegan Bradley, Sam Burns, Tony Finau, Brian Harman, Russell Henley and Max Homa, who are joined by those who had already qualified as the top six US PGA TOUR members to have earned the most FedExCup Points from January 1, 2023, through August 25, 2024: Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, Patrick Cantlay and Sahith Theegala.
They will be up against Mike Weir’s International team, with his six selections: Corey Conners, Taylor Pendrith, Mackenzie Hughes, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Si Woo Kim and Min Woo Lee teaming up with those automatically qualified: Hideki Matsuyama, Adam Scott, Jason Day, Tom Kim, Sungjae Im and Byeong Hun An.
LIV Golf players are not eligible to take part in the Presidents Cup which rules out Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Cam Smith and Joaquin Niemann.
Among the intriguing foursome pairings lined up for Day One are Scottie Scheffler and Russell Henley versus Sungjae Im and Tom Kim and Xander Schauffele and Tony Finau versus Jason Day and Byeong Hun An.
The 2024 Presidents Cup will be played at Royal Montreal Golf Club in Quebec, Canada from Thursday 26 September to Sunday 29 September.
Play gets underway at 11:35 a.m. ET / 8:35 a.m. PT with Schauffele/Finau (US) taking on Day/Byeong Hun An (International)
The Presidents Cup pits the United States against an International team that represents the rest of the world, excluding Europe, and is a unique golf event in that there is no purse or prize money on the line.
