Jason Day memes: The Australian golfer’s pants went viral Thursday at the Masters
With the 2024 Masters now in full swing, the up-and-coming golfer has found himself in the spotlight, and not just because of his game, but his clothes.
It may be that you’re just a casual fan of the sport in which case this is likely the first time you’ve heard any talk of Jason Day’s pants. On the other hand, given the fervor that they’ve caused, it’s almost certain that it won’t be the last.
Jason Day’s pants are the talk of the town
The first two days of the 2024 Masters have unfortunately been fraught with delays due to weather conditions. That said, we’ve also seen some moments of brilliance from a player who is essentially one of the focal points of this year’s edition, having only recently returned to the sport, former winner and one of golf’s greatest ever players, Tiger Woods. Yet, the irony is that it’s actually the player with whom the 15-time major winner has been paired that’s become an even bigger talking point, and because of his pants of all things.
Understandably, there are more eyes on Jason Day because of Woods’ presence, however, one has to admit that his duds have turned heads all on their own. The 36-year-old has been wearing clothes provided by Malbon, a clearly hip golf fashion brand with whom he recently signed a partnership and one that is clearly interested in testing limits. As you can imagine, it didn’t take social media long to react to the 2015 PGA champion’s fashion sense as a number of hilarious posts started to pour in.
Now, to be honest there is no way to deny that Day’s pants look more akin to something from an era long gone, perhaps pre-World War II. On the other hand, it’s quite clear - if you’re familiar with Malbon - that he is now sponsored by a brand that is intent on pushing the envelope. It’s worth noting once again that Woods’ presence makes for an increased level of interest, something we have to believe has likely motivated both Day and Malbon to steal the spotlight, but given the level of humor we’ve seen in response one can be forgiven for questioning whether this has been a success for the brand and its ambassador.
For a glimpse at some of the better reactions, take a look below:
We can’t deny that there is a resemblance between them.
There was also this harsh but cheeky take.
OK, you’ve got to admit this is funny...
And so is this...
But the winner is...
Of course, Day didn’t stop there. Friday’s play saw him switch things up with his vest and not his pants becoming the focal point for fans. Indeed, some even found themselves referencing Malboro cigarettes and if we’re honest we can kinda see what they’re saying. Nonetheless, you be the judge for yourself:
Interestingly, Malbon also addressed Day’s attire on their official Instagram account but with a post - see below - actually displaying what we can expect to see him wearing across the tournament. Stay tuned for more!
