Jon Jones is expected to return to the octagon later this year to take on the former heavyweight king Stipe Miocic at UFC 309. Both fighters were expected to meet last year, but Jones suffered a pectoral injury days before the fight that ended up requiring surgery.

It took a long time for Bones to fully recover, as he also underwent elbow surgery to treat some problems in that area too. However, the pectoral healing process took way longer than his elbow and now Jones is ready to defend his heavyweight title.

While UFC boss Dana White believes that a fight between Jones and Miocic clash makes all sense, some other MMA fans think the former heavyweight titleholder is not the most interesting opponent for Jones and point out the heavyweight interim champion Tom Aspinall as the fighter who should share the cage with the American.

What did Jones say about fighting Aspinall?

Jones recently answered quite a few tweets from fans, and one of the main questions was if he would fight Aspinall after facing Miocic and if he’s scared of the young Brit.

One of those MMA fans asked him if he believed could beat Aspinall if they met inside the octagon. Jones didn’t hold back and even predicted an outcome if both men fought each other.

“Bro, absolutely. I’m getting close to being in fight shape and I’m weighing in at 245 now. He probably cuts weight to get down to heavyweight. The night we fought he would probably weigh a solid 25 pounds more than me, seven years younger, and I would still whip his ass like I’ve done everyone else. You guys can go ahead and believe the hype, I’ll keep doing what I’ve always done, win”, he said.

After beating Curtis Baydes at UFC 304 in Manchester, England, Aspinall called out Jones. Although the American admitted that Aspinall was a possible rival, he never confirmed he would fight him after Miocic.
