What is Floyd Mayweather’s boxing record?
One of the all-time greats of the boxing ring, Floyd Mayweather Jr, faces former sparring partner Don Moore in an exhibition fight in Dubai.
Former sparring partner Don Moore takes on boxing great Floyd Mayweather Jr in Dubai on May 14th, in an exhibition bout which, on paper, is a decent matchup.
Mayweather retired with 50-0 pro boxing record
Don Moore was trained by Floyd’s uncle, the late Roger Mayweather, and has an 18-0-1 professional record. Mayweather won all 50 of his professional bouts before retiring in 2017.
Mayweather is also an old hand in exhibition fights, after beating Japaneses kickboxer and mixed martial artist Tenshin Nasukawa by technical knockout in December 2018 and YouTuber Logan Paul last year. The May 14th clash at the Burj Al Arab hotel helipad in Dubai will be Moore’s biggest fight by a long stretch.
After winning an Olympic bronze medal as an amateur in 1996, Mayweather won his first professional fight in October that year, defeating Mexican Roberto Apodaca by technical knockout.
World champion across five weight divisions
Between then and his last professional bout, a cynical circus-act against Irish MMA star Conor McGregor in August 2017, the 44-year-old won world titles across five different weight classes: super featherweight, lightweight, light welterweight, welterweight and light middleweight.
He is one of only five quintuple champions in men’s boxing - a group that features two men he has beaten, Oscar de la Hoya and Manny Pacquiao.
Of his 50 professional victories, Mayweather - whose nicknames have included ‘Pretty Boy’, ‘Money’ and ‘The Best Ever’ - managed 27 knockouts.
