What is the cut line at the Masters? Big names going home early: Sergio, Koepka, Glover, Scott, Horschel
It’s Friday at the Masters and the top of the leaderboard is crowded with some of golf’s top players looking to at least make it into the weekend. We’ll keep you posted today on who’s in and who’s out
The Sunday showdown between McIlroy and Scheffler all golf fans were hoping for could still happen. Rory is playing great on Friday and making up some lost territory after those last four holes yesterday. DeChambeau wants it to be a three-way battle and Justin Rose held his own on Friday too.
Let’s not count out some other great golfers who currently sit at the top of the leaderboard. Ludvig Aberg is in contention after a solid 4-under par on Friday and Bryson DeChambeau is starting off Friday with the leaders as well. But, despite his 7-under par round 1, Justin Rose seems to be flying under the radar. The Englishman is already out on the course on Friday and is putting as well as anyone as well as playing solid tee-to-green golf.
What is the cut line at the Masters?
The top 50 players and ties will make it to the weekend at Augusta National. At the moment the cut line is 2-over par (+2). It has been fluctuating between +1 and +2 so far today and will likely change as play progresses on Friday.
What big names are likely to miss the weekend?
We’ll start with the obvious. Nick Dunlap will not be playing this weekend in Georgia. The American golfer shot 18-over par (+18) on Thursday and is definitely out of the running. Veterans Fred Couples, José María Olazabal and Angel Cabrera most likely won’t have enough gas in the tank to make it through to the weekend.
Other big names likely to go home early are Wyndham Clark, Jon Rahm and Sepp Straka unless they can turn things around on Friday. Sergio García, Robert MacIntyre, Tony Finau, and Brooks Koepka are other who will probably be going home early.
