Among others, one of the most intriguing facets of The Open Championship pertains to the scores that participants can achieve and, consequently, the cut line established following the second round’s conclusion. The cut line at the course can occasionally exceed the par, contingent upon prevailing conditions. However, if the wind and rain conditions are not severe, it is generally observed that scores and the cut line tend to be significantly lower.

In contrast to a numerical threshold, players are cognizant that the Open Championship cut rules stipulate the necessity of positioning oneself favorably on the leaderboard.

What is the current cut line at the British Open?

At 2:30 p.m. ET the cut line is at 3-over par (+2). We will be updating this information as play goes on.

But what is the cut line at the Open Championship?

The cut rules for the Open Championship stipulate that only the top 70 players, including those who are tied, on the leaderboard after the initial two rounds will be eligible to continue playing during the weekend. This selection process applies to the 156 total players who have participated in the tournament throughout the week. The cut rules currently in place for the PGA Championship are identical to those previously applied to PGA Tour events. However, it should be noted that the latter has transitioned to a Top 65 and ties format in recent years.

Regarding The Masters and US Open, these tournaments implement reduced cuts to accommodate their smaller overall fields. At Augusta, only the Top 50 players and ties advance to the weekend, while at the US Open, the third and fourth rounds are contested by the Top 60 players and ties.
