A thrilling Wimbledon final on Sunday saw Novak Djokovic smash his racket across the net post before he lost to Carlos Alcaraz in one of the great tennis finals.

Alcaraz finished the fifth set like a true champion to become the third youngest Wimbledon champion after four hours and 42 minutes of tennis.

But what punishment did Djokovic get for his brief moment of madness with his smashed racket?

The Serbian smashed his racket against the net post in frustration after Alcaraz earned the first break of their fifth set on Sunday and the young Spaniard cupped his ear to the crowd.

Djokovic initially received a code violation for his furious reaction and has since been fined $8,000, which will be deducted from his Wimbledon prize money.

The 36-year-old seven-time champion was feeling the pressure and knew he had something to lose at that point.

Alcaraz wins Wimbledon

Alcaraz won the big points in the final set, unleashing some huge shots to decide the outcome and clinch the grand slam title at the age of 20 in the biggest game of his career to date.
