What time does Tiger Woods tee off tomorrow? Will he make the cut at the 2024 British Open?
Arguably the greatest golfer to ever play has been back in action at the British Open this week. So, what are his tee times for Round 2 of the tournament?
If he’s to make the cutline on Friday, Tiger Wood will have a lot of catching up to do. Of course, that’s something that the three-time British Open champion understand all to well as we head into Round 2 of one of golf’s most prestigious events.
Tiger Woods’ status and tee times
During the opening round of play on Thursday, there were brief moments of brilliance from Tiger Woods. Yet, it’s got to be said that Woods couldn’t seem to find any consistency such that his presence at the 152nd Open Championship, a tournament he’s won on three occasions, was not a cause for celebration. Indeed, by the end of the day Woods could only muster a frustrating 8-over 79 at Royal Troon, a mark that stands well below the projected cut line for Friday’s second round on the Scottish coast.
“I didn’t do a lot of things right today,” Woods said post-play. “I didn’t hit my irons very close, and I didn’t give myself a whole lot of looks today. I need to shoot something in the mid-60s tomorrow to get something going on the weekend.” Interestingly, Woods actually started the day on a high, making two straight pars followed by a birdie from just off the green at the par-4 third. Sadly, that was the end of it as he then proceeded to play his next five holes in 5 over, including a double bogey at the par-3 fifth that included a pitch-out sideways from a pot bunker. There was also a 4-over 40 leading to a back nine that saw just one more birdie (the par-4 13th) after a double bogey-bogey stretch on Nos. 11 and 12. Finally, there were consecutive bogeys on Nos. 17 and 18 to finish with the previously mentioned 8-over 79,
Nonetheless, there is no debating the idea that Woods, one of golf’s greatest ever players, will continue to attract attention as the tournament goes on which brings us to his tee times and pairings for second-round play on Friday. As things stand, the 48-year-old is set to start Round 2 at 4:25 a.m. ET on Friday alongside 2024 PGA Championship winner Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay.
