When and where is the Josh Taylor vs Teofimo Lopez fight?
Both fighters will face each other after lots of bad blood in their recent interviews, which should translate into a war in the ring.
Josh Taylor and Teofimo Lopez will collide in a fight where the Scottish’s super lightweight title will be on the line.
Taylor, who has been inactive for the last 16 months, last fought Jack Catteral. He grinded out a controversial split decision win against the Brit, so he will be willing to prove his critics wrong and show that he’s still the fighter who defeated Regis Prograis and Jose Ramirez.
However, the undefeated champion will be facing one of the toughest tests of his career in Lopez, who hasn’t performed as expected in his last fights.
Against Sándor Martin, many saw him being outboxed by the Spaniard but he managed to get his hand raised after the fight via SD. The American is still young at 25, so there’s still room for improvement, but he doesn’t seem the same fighter that pulled off the upset against Vasiliy Lomachenko in 2020.
Taylor vs Lopez: date and venue
The Taylor vs Lopez fight is easily one of the most exciting ones of the year, as both fighters usually bring their A-game and lots of action when in the ring.
They are set to face each other on Saturday, June 10, at the Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theatre. With a capacity between 2,000 and 5,600 attendants, it is located beneath the main MSG arena that hosts larger events.
Both men are expected to meet in the ring at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT, although timings could suffer some changes due to the length of the undercard fights.
Lopez will hope that the majority of the crowd at Hulu Theatre will cheer him up, but Taylor is used to fighting in different arenas, so that factor won’t probably affect his performance.
