Tennis fans are about to be treated to one of the best events on the sport’s calendar. The world’s best players are in London, where they will feature in the game’s oldest tournament.

Who are the favorites at Wimbledon 2024?

Carlos Alcaraz is the event’s current champion, having defeated Novak Djokovic last July in an epic five-setter that saw both men fight for almost five hours.

Jannik Sinner will undoubtedly be one of the players to watch, as the Italian transitioned from rising star to superstar at the end of 2023, and is now a serious contender in every tournament he plays.

There are question marks over Djokovic’s fitness, as the Serb is recovering after surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. However, the 24-time major champion provided a positive update this weekend, revealing that his knee “has responded very well” in practice ahead of the tournament.

As for the women’s category, the trio of Iga Swiatek, Elena Rybakina, and Aryna Sabalenka are the biggest favorites to go all the way in London. Swiatek recently won the French Open for the fourth time in her career, but she has never won Wimbledon. A quarterfinal finish in 2023 is her best performance on the London grass.

Meanwhile, Marketa Vondrousova will have other plans and will try to defend her crown in the season’s third major. Ons Jabeur, Coco Gauff, and Jasmine Paolini are other names that could make a big impact in the tournament.

When does Wimbledon 2024 start?

Wimbledon, considered tennis’ most prestigious tournament, runs from Monday, July 1, to Sunday, July 14.

Where does Wimbledon 2024 take place?

Wimbledon’s 137th edition will be held at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, in Wimbledon, London.

How can I watch Wimbledon 2024?

If you are in the US, you can watch Wimbledon on ABC, ESPN, and the Tennis Channel.

You can also watch the tournament live on FuboTV (free trial available).

How much prize money is at stake?

There will be a £50 million ($63.4 million) total prize purse across all events at Wimbledon this year. The winners of the men’s and women’s singles titles will each pocket £2.7 million ($3.4 million), with the runners-up earning £1.4 million ($1.8 million).
