Anderson Silva, one of the biggest stars in the history of the UFC and one of the best Mixed Martial Arts fighters of all time, has announced what will be his last boxing match in Brazil, his country of birth. The ‘Spider’ announced his fight online through a joking challenge with actor Terry Crews, who initially claimed to be his rival.

However, a few hours later, Silva revealed that he would face another former UFC fighter like Chael Sonnen, whom he had already defeated twice in the promotion’s octagon. As the Brazilian announced, the fight will take place next Saturday, June 15, in a confrontation that will surely be scheduled for 8 rounds.

It must be clarified that this will be Silva’s last fight in Brazil, although he does not rule out fighting again in other places such as Saudi Arabia or the United States. The Brazilian began a career as a boxer in 2021, facing and winning Julio Cesar Chávez Jr. After this ‘debut,’ ‘Spider’ officially defeated Tito Ortiz and unofficially defeated Bruno Machado. In his last fight, he was knocked down and defeated by Jake Paul who at that time had a 5-0 record.

Another UFC star who switches to boxing

Chael Sonnen will be the last star to switch to boxing this June 15. Other figures, such as Anderson Silva himself, Tyron Woodley, Nate Diaz, and Jorge Masvidal, made this move a little earlier because of the enormous positive difference they obtained in relation to the payments of a boxing match compared to an MMA match.

In fact, Diaz and Masvidal will meet next July 6 in a fight that was originally scheduled for June 1 but has been moved to avoid clashing with UFC 302. Both fighters already have experience in boxing, and after their departure from the UFC, they challenged each other in a repetition of the first fight that originated the BMF title.
