Who are the 2023 Wimbledon women’s Top 10 seeds?
After the French Open, now it’s turn for the big tournament on grass, Wimbledon. Who are the favorites to lift the trophy?
Iga Swiatek will be looking to repeat her success at the French Open in London, where she will try to be as focused as she was on clay to reach the final in Wimbledon and win the tournament.
The Polish star and current WTA world No. 1 will be looking to win the fifth major of her career, although it’s known that her favorite surface is clay, winning Roland Garros three times.
The Wimbledon women’s singles draw will feature all the top players in the world. The current champion at the All England Club, Elena Rybakina, has been a doubt over the last weeks, as she hasn’t played a game on grass due to illness.
However, the Kazakhstani star has announced she will feature in the oldest tennis competition, despite not being in the best form.
Who are the WTA top seeds?
Swiatek, as world No. 1, will be the top-seeded player in Wimbledon. One of the favorites to go all the way in the event, Aryna Sabalenka, will be the second seed, followed by Rybakina if she finally plays in London.
The next five seeds are Jessica Pegula, Caroline Garcia, Ons Jabeur, Coco Gauff, and Maria Sakkari. They all have in common that they have never won a major and will be hungry to show the tennis community what they can do on a tennis court, especially in such a big tournament.
The Americans Pegula and Gauff will hope to bring back the title to the US after Serena Williams last did so in 2016.
Closing the Top 10 seeds in the women’s category are two Czech warriors, Petra Kvitova, and Barbora Krejcikova. Kvitova is a double Wimbledon champion with lots of experience and is one of the players to keep an eye on in London.
