Who does Taylor Fritz play next at the Australian Open 2025? Opponent, date, time
Fritz eased past fellow American Jenson Brooksby in the first round of the Australian Open men’s singles tournament.
The US’s Taylor Fritz faces Chilean opposition next in the Australian Open men’s singles tournament, after breezing through the first round with a straight-sets victory over compatriot Jenson Brooksby at Melbourne Park.
“Super happy” Fritz batters Brooksby
Seeded at No. 4 in Australia, Fritz won 6-2, 6-0, 6-3 on John Cain Arena on Tuesday, as he began his bid to improve on last year’s career-best performance down under.
The 27-year-old was a quarter-finalist in Melbourne 12 months ago, at the start of a season that also saw the Californian reach the last eight at Wimbledon, before making his first ever Grand Slam final at the US Open.
“I’m super happy how the match went,” Fritz said after beating Brooksby, per the ATP. “It’s never easy playing the first match of Slams with a bit of nerves. I did a good job shaking that off early and getting it done in straights.”
