Who is Chris Eubank Jr.? Height, weight, career record, stats and KOs
Son of British former boxer Chris Eubank, ‘NextGen’ will try to avenge his loss to Liam Smith on Saturday in Manchester, England.
Chris Eubank Jr. will try to bounce back from his clear defeat to Liam Smith back in January in a rematch where full-packed action and intensity are expected.
Eubank Jr., who had never been stopped before, saw how a determined and confident Smith got his hand raised via TKO in the fourth round in a one-sided bout.
Will Eubank Jr. be able to avenge his loss and come out on top? This is a difficult match to predict, but it seems a sure thing that the attendants and boxing fans watching the fight will be the big winners.
Who is Chris Eubank Jr.?
Son of British living legend Chris Eubank, NextGen was born in Hove, England, on 18th September 1989. Eubank Jr. has always wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a world champion, something he might be closer to accomplishing if he defeats Liam Smith.
Chris started his career as an amateur back in 2007 and after recording some consecutive victories, he became the Amateur Golden Gloves Champion for the state of Nevada and the Amateur Golden Gloves champion in the Western States of the US.
With a record of 18-0 as a professional, he faced his first big test against Billy Joe Saunders. Both men were undefeated by then, and it was Saunders who got his hand raised via split decision in a close, hard-fought encounter.
After tasting defeat for the first time as a pro, Eubank Jr. went recorded eight consecutive wins, when he captured the WBA interim middleweight title and the IBO super middleweight belt, before taking on George Groves.
Against Groves, he had the chance of becoming the WBA super middleweight champion, but he came up short, losing via unanimous decision in a fight where Groves’ boxing skills defeated Eubank Jr.’s will.
After his second defeat, he scored some wins that earned him a super bout against Conor Benn., son of another British boxing living legend, Nigel Benn. There was a lot of expectation, as it would be a sequel of their fathers’ two wars during the 90′s.
However, the bout never happened, as Benn tested positive for clomifene, which has been found to have a powerful ability to boost or restore testosterone levels.
Eubank Jr., looking for a title shot, challenged Liam Smith after that, in a fight that was preceded by NextGen’s confidence and a spicy pre-fight press conference. However, those attributes didn’t help him against his rival in the ring, as he suffered a shocking fourth-round TKO defeat.
