Who is Frances Tiafoe’s girlfriend? Get to know Ayan Broomfield
The American has been solid at the US Open and it could be argued that it’s in no small part due to the support of his partner, but who is Ayan Broomfield?
As he prepares to take on Taylor Fritz in the US Open semifinals, one could say that World No. 10 Frances Tiafoe is in the form of his life. Yet, one staple of his march to the last four has been the constant cheering that he’s received from his partner who just happens to be an established tennis player in her own right. Surely that can’t hurt.
Introducing Ayan Broomfield
While some fans will likely know that Frances Tiafoe and Ayan Broomfield have been together for more than five years now - they made their relationship public in 2018 - many would have truly taken notice of the woman in Tiafoe’s life following his dramatic comeback win over Ben Shelton in the third round of the US Open last week. Indeed, seen at various moments in stands in an intensely stressed state, Ayan Broomfield was clearly living each and every shot played by Frances as the match wore on such that her tears of joy at the end of it were no surprise.
Of course, when you consider that she has also had a tennis career, it’s not hard to understand why she’s so keenly involved. Born in Canada in 1997, Broomfield played tennis from an early age and eventually attended Clemson University where she played for the Tigers tennis team, becoming the 2015-16 ACC Freshman of the Year while also earning the ITA Carolina Region Rookie of the Year award. She would then transfer to UCLA in her sophomore year where began to partner with Gabby Andrews in doubles in her senior year. The pair would clinch the NCAA Division 1 Women’s Tennis championship in 2019.
Naturally, it wasn’t long before the professional game came calling and to that end, Broomfield began her journey on the ITF circuit during which time she managed to win two doubles titles. Interestingly, her tennis skills also saw her land opportunities off the court as well when she was featured in a 2019 Amazon Prime documentary entitled Ayan Broomfield Tennis Story. Film credits didn’t stop there either as she would go on to serve as one of the body doubles for the actress playing Venus Williams in 2021′s King Richard. That said, a quick glance at Broomfield’s Instagram posts in recent days will tell you that when it comes to tennis, she’s only focused on Frances’ progress at the moment, and by his responses to them, we imagine he’s eternally grateful for that.
