The 2024 Memorial Tournament comes at a rather interesting time for the large majority of golf’s top tier. Indeed, one could think of the event as a prelude to fast approaching U.S. Open, golf’s third major of the season.

A look at the field for the 2024 Memorial Tournament

As mentioned above, the Memorial Tournament is set to be played a critical moment in the season. Coming just after an eventful PGA Championship, the signature event represents an opportune moment for a final tune-up before the U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2, which in turn is immediately followed by another signature event in the form of the Travelers Championship. This is all to say there is quite a bit at stake with both the cumulative purse set to be large and the amount of FedEx points on offer, sizeable.

This of course brings us to the question of who is going to be in the field at the Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio when the tournament tees on June 6th. Designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus who is himself an Ohio native, the course has continued to play host to the tournament since it was founded by Nicklaus himself in 1976. So, who’s in the field? we can start by telling you who isn’t. That would be No. 35 Min Woo Lee who is the highest-ranked player that won’t be there this year.

On the other hand, world no. 1 Scottie Scheffler will be now that all charges against him have been dropped following his surprising arrest and subsequent release during the recent PGA Championship. Other notable names include the defending champion Viktor Hovland. The Norwegian clinched the title after a playoff win against Denny McCarthy last year. Though he’s had a slow start to the 2024 season, he was in impressive form at Valhalla last month, finishing third behind Bryson DeChambeau and winner Xander Schauffele. On the note of past champions, it’s worth noting that Billy Horschel, Patrick Cantlay, and Hideki Matsuyama are also in the field which you can see in its entirety above. The 2024 Memorial championship has a reported $20 million purse of which the winner is set to receive $4 million. The tournament will be played between June 6th and 9th.
