The last golfer to accomplish the feat was Padraig Harrington, who lifted the Claret Jug in 2007 and 2008. The two years prior to that, in 2005 and 2006, the Claret Jug was hoisted by Tiger Woods.

Two back-to-back winners, themselves back-to-back is like being struck by lightning. Only accomplished twice in history, when Bobby Jones and Walter Hagen did the double-double from 1926 to 1929.

Prior to Tiger, the last time the Open was won back-to-back was in 1982 and 83, when Tom Watson did the honors.

Peter Thomson won three in a row from 1954 to 1956. Even more impressive is the triple-triple, when Jamie Anderson and Bob Ferguson won three apiece back-to-back from 1877 to 1882. And going back further, Tom Morris Sr won five in a row between 1867 and 1872.
