Jake Paul has already turned his attention to his next opponent after defeating the legendary Mike Tyson in the much-hyped Netflix fight.

How did Jake Paul beat Mike Tyson?

27-year-old Paul defeated 58-year-old Tyson by unanimous decision at AT&T Stadium in Texas. Although there was little doubt Paul was ultimately the deserved winner, some took umbrage with the ‘unanimous’ part of the call.

“Iron Mike” showed glimpses of his former self in the first couple of rounds, landing a couple of trademark lefts. However, Paul came out strong in the third, by which time Tyson, wearing a knee brace, had already started to fade. The YouTuber turned pro boxer was on the front foot for much of the rest of the fight and landed a few heavy blows, without anything overly spectacular.

Who will Jake Paul fight next?

Before Paul even got into the ring with Tyson, it was reported that Ohio native had already identified his next opponent, albeit in a different sport. In January 2023, Paul signed a contract with MMA promotion Professional Fighters League (PFL) and offered Nate Diaz a two-fight deal.

In an interview with Bloody Elbow, PFL CEO Peter Murray says Paul is now ready to switch from boxing to MMA for his next fight and that “Jake has committed to take on a for real, legitimate fighter. So, it’ll be a spectacle.”

Last month, Paul also hinted he was ready to try a different sport, heavily suggesting the time had come to face off against Diaz, who he beat in a boxing bout in August 2023.

“It’s just about finding the name. We have the money, we’re ready to go, we’re ready to make offers to people but they just have to be able to draw sales. So, I think I can beat Nate Diaz in my first MMA fight, it would be tough of course. It’s a 50/50 fight but I don’t want to go into something where I’m going to be outclassed like fighting Khabib Nurmagomedov in my first fight.”

Jake Paul makes bold Canelo Alvarez claim

However, Paul’s comments in the immediate aftermath of his win over Tyson saw him (not) call out super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez, potentially in the hope of setting up a bout between the pair.

Canelo needs me. I’m not going to even call him out. He wants the payday, he knows where the money man’s at.”

A legitimate offer or simply a line to generate hype and make more headlines? It’s too early to say.
