Who won the 2022 CrossFit Games? Champions, Day 5 final results, and leaderboard
The 2022 CrossFit Games are over, and the champions have been declared- Justin Medeiros and Tia-Clair Toomey are this year’s ‘Fittest on Earth.’
The last workout of the 2022 CrossFit Games has been done, and the fittest athletes have been proclaimed at Madison, Wisconsin. The same faces were seen at the top of the podium- Justin Medeiros of the US won his second championship in a row, becoming only the third man in the history of the competition to score back-to-back victories after Rich Froning and Mat Fraser.
Tia-Clair Toomey of Australia continued her dominance in the women’s division, clinching her sixth consecutive championship, the biggest number of individual titles earned by any CrossFit athlete.
Laura Horvath dominates Day 5
Despite Toomey’s overall win, Laura Horvath of Hungary stole the show on Day 5, her outstanding performances in all three events of the day shooting her straight to the podium from a number nine finish the day before. She finished third after American Mallory O’Brien.
Horvath won the day’s first event, The Alpaca (kettlebell clean and jerks, sled push), by a comfortable 40-second lead. She followed it up with another big win in Event 12, Back Nine (yoke carry, squats, deadlifts). The Hungarian then finished fourth in the final event, Jackie Pro (row, thrusters, muscle-ups) securing her the bronze in the Games.
CrossFit Mayhem Freedom dominated the Games in the team contest, with the sweep of seven of the last events cementing their place at the top. They are now CrossFit Affiliate Cup Champions for the sixth time.
