Three Americans are in fourth-round action in the women’s singles on day eight of the 2024 Italian Open today, while there is also US interest in the men’s singles and women’s doubles.

Who are Gauff, Keys and Collins playing?

After beating Romania’s Jaqueline Cristian, No. 3 seed Coco Gauff takes on Spain’s Paula Badosa at Rome’s Foro Italico, where her compatriots Madison Keys and Danielle Collins both face Romanian opposition today.

Keys set up a clash with Solana Cirstea by defeating Brazil’s Bia Haddid Maia in the third round in Italy, while Collins comes up against Irina Camelia Begu after eliminating France’s Caroline Garcia.

Paul, Townsend also in action

In the men’s singles tournament, meanwhile, New Jersey native Tommy Paul meets Germany’s Dominik Koepfer in the last 32, having knocked out Russian Aslan Karatsev in the second round.

In the women’s doubles, America’s Taylor Townsend and the Czech Republic’s Katerina Siniakova go up against Japanese pair Sri Hozumi and Makoto Ninomiya in the second round. The winners will meet Gauff and New Zealand’s Erin Routliffe in the quarter-finals.

Who else is in action in Rome today?

Among the major non-US names due on court in the Italian capital today, four-time grand slam champion Naomi Osaka plays China’s Zeng Qinwen in the women’s singles fourth round, and top seed Iga Swiatek goes head to head with German Angelique Kerber.

In the men’s singles, No. 2 seed Daniil Medvedev faces the Serb Hamad Medjedovic in the third round. Medvedev is now the highest seed in the men’s draw, after world No. 1 Novak Djokovic suffered a surprise defeat to Chile’s Alejandro Tabilo at the weekend.
