Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson has long seemed invincible, but he’s apparently feeling a little vulnerable lately.

On his podcast Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, the boxer waxed philosophical on mortality as he spoke with his therapist Sean McFarland, whose field of specialization includes trauma and addiction.

Mike Tyson: My expiration date is close

We’re all going to die one day, of course,” Iron Mike told his guest.

The former champ, who recently celebrated his 56th birthday, has been confronted by his own reflection.

“When I look in the mirror, I see those little spots on my face, and I say, ‘Wow. That means my expiration is coming close. Really soon,” he said. His remarks come even after he lost 100 pounds in three months and returned to boxing. There were even reports that he would be fighting YouTuber Jake Paul this year.

Tyson, sometimes called ‘The Baddest Man on the Planet’, made some comments earlier in the podcast saying that having a lot money gives one a false sense of invincibility and security.

“Even now, money don’t mean s—t to me,” he said. “I always tell people- they think money’s gonna make them happy, they’ve never had a lot of money before.

“It’s just that, the false sense of security. You believe nothing can happen. You don’t believe the banks could collapse. You believe that you’re invincible when you have a lot of money, which isn’t true.”

Tyson feels like he has already ‘died’

It’s not the first time Tyson has spoken of what he calls his “expiration date” in public. During a conference on psychedelics held late last year, he told the New York Post that using the hallucinogenic venom of the Bufo Alvarius toad had given him trips where he felt like he ‘died’, and he saw the beauty of death.

“Life and death both have to be beautiful, but death has a bad rep. The toad has taught me that I’m not going to be here forever. There’s an expiration date.”
