A woman has come forward with charges of rape against renowned boxer Mike Tyson. She alleges they met in a New York City nightclub in the early 1990s.

Once upon a time, the undisputed heavyweight champion of boxing was convicted of the rape of beauty pageant winner Desiree Washington, which came at the height of his glory.

That incident caused the boxer to go to jail for three years and halting his career while at his best moment.

Mike Tyson and a new accusation of rape by an anonymous woman

The victim, who has requested the court to keep her identity secret, has filed a civil action against him, accusing him of raping her in the early 1990s.

According to an affidavit submitted by a lady on January 5 in Albany County Court, New York, she claims: “In the early 1990s, I met Mike Tyson at a nightclub called Septembers. He invited my friend and me to hang out with him and his limo driver. Tyson invited us to a party and gave us the details. After my friend had dropped off her car, Tyson had promised to pick her up in style in the limousine.”

“I told him no several times and asked him to stop, but he continued to attack me. He then pulled my pants off and violently raped me,” the lady continued.

The woman is suing for $5 million due to “physical, psychological, and emotional injuries,” according to the court papers.

What is the Adult Survivor Act

The claim was brought under the Adult Survivors Act, which was passed by Governor Kathy Hochul of New York last year. “Survivors of sexual assault that occurred after they were above the age of 18 are granted a one-year lookback window to sue their perpetrators regardless of when the abuse occurred,” as stated in the rule.

To date, Tyson has not issued a comment responding to the complaint.

Even though he is still regarded as one of the best in his profession, his personal life has been marred by scandal, including claims of physical abuse from his first wife, Robin Givens. He openly acknowledged the veracity of the allegations, saying on Oprah Winfrey’s program in 2009, “She had once socked me, and I have also socked her. It was just that kind of relationship.”
