From world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler’s arrest to what appears to be a tragic accident near the famous course, it would appear that this year’s edition of the PGA Championship has not got off to the best start.

Fatal accident delays 2nd round at PGA Championship

According to reports, the start of the second round of the PGA Championship has been delayed due to a fatal accident near the course. According to the Louisville Metro Police Department a pedestrian died after being hit by a shuttle bus.

In a statement from the PGA Championship itself, the organization indicated that updates will follow as the situation develops. “The start of Round 2 is delayed due to a serious accident near the course. “The next update will be at 12pm BST and the starting time will be at least one hour after an update is made,” the statement read.

With the first group having been slated to tee off at 8:35 a.m. ET, we can now only wait to see when play will actually get underway. It’s also worth noting that inclement weather is expected to disrupt the day’s play as well. As for the accident itself, there was also a statement from the Louisville Metro Police Department in which it was indeed confirmed that a vehicle collision had taken place near Valhalla Golf Club. You can see the full statement below:

“About 5:00 ET this morning, the LMPD responded to a call of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian and a bus. Our preliminary investigation found that an adult male pedestrian was crossing Shelbyville Roadsouth to north when he was struck by a shuttle bus that was traveling eastbound in the compulsory center lane dedicated for buses.”

It has been confirmed that Scottie Scheffler was released and will play on Friday:
