Scheffler cemented his dominance with a fourth win of the season at the 2025 Open Championship and is now focused on the FedEx Cup.

Why isn’t Scottie Scheffler playing in the Wyndham Championship?

Scottie Scheffler extended his lead over Rory McIlroy at the top of the 2025 PGA Tour Money List thanks to his sensational victory in last week’s Open Championship, which means he is now just a US Open short of a career major Grand Slam.
Scheffler’s dominant PGA Tour form
After a slightly slow start to the year by his own incredibly high standards, the world No. 1 has reestablished himself as the dominant force in golf. Since his first win of 2025 at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson at the start of May, Scheffler has recorded three more victories, two of which have been in major championships.
Going further back, the 29-year-old has finished inside the top 10 in his last 11 tournaments, and in the top 25 in all 16 of the events he has played in this season.
Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy absent from the Wyndham Championship
Scheffler isn’t, however, part of the field for this week’s Wyndham Championship, taking place at Sedgefield Country Club in North Carolina. After playing in the British Isles, the 17-time PGA Tour winner is among a host of top players, McIlroy included, who have opted to take a break ahead of the FedEx Cup playoffs, which gets underway with the FedEx St. Jude Championship at TPC Southwind in Memphis on August 7-10.
The Open champion also skipped last week’s 3M Open in Minnesota. The world No. 1 has been keeping busy attending the ‘Happy Gilmore 2′ premiere and showing off his newly earned claret jug.

When will Scottie Scheffler play next?
August 7-10: FedEx St Jude Championship (TPC Southwind)
August 14-17: BMW Championship (Caves Valley)
August 21-24: Tour Championship (East Lake)
Scheffler will be looking to win the Tour Championship and FedEx Cup for a second year running following his triumph at East Lake last year.
