Will Jon Jones vs Alex Pereira happen? What did UFC boss Dana White say?

The combat sports community wants to see ‘Bones’ and the Brazilian star collide in the cage. Will it happen?

Alex Pereira has become one of the UFC’s most charismatic and feared fighters. The Brazilian debuted in the world’s biggest mixed martial arts company in November 2021 and since then he has had a meteoric rise that has taken him to the biggest stage.

Poatan won the middleweight title and is the current light heavyweight king in only 10 UFC fights. He has won nine of them, only losing to Israel Adesanya in April 2023, with The Last Stylebender finally avenging his previous three losses to the former Glory middleweight and light heavyweight champion.

After defeating Jiri Prochazka again in the UFC 303 main event, Pereira revealed he would love to become the only UFC three-weight division champion. He also admitted he would love to fight Jon Jones, the current heavyweight king, to try to accomplish that feat.

Will the Jones vs Pereira mega-fight happen? What did White say?

Jones is expected to take on Stipe Miocic at the end of 2024 in a battle of two heavyweight greats. If Bones passes the test, a fight with Pereira would be a real possibility, as it would make sense for the fans and the organization.

However, that mega-clash won’t happen. At least not shortly. UFC boss Dana White replied with a “no” when asked about the possibility of seeing both men sharing the octagon in a heavyweight title fight.

Despite White’s negative answer on The Pat McAfee Show, both fighters are open to face each other and the interest will likely keep growing.

It could also be a strategy from White to keep “cooking” a potential mega-event that would deliver in terms of PPV buys, as many consider the fight between the American and the Brazilian as one of the most spectacular ever in MMA.
