WWE and Netflix kick off collaboration with spectacular Monday Night RAW

Netflix’s next move into live programming got underway in LA on Monday with the first episode of “Raw,” the weekly World Wrestling Entertainment spectacle.

Monday night saw the launch of a new joint venture initiative as WWE ‘Monday Night Raw’ debuted on Netflix as the two entertainment giants join forces with the first incarnation of ‘RAW on Netflix’ taking place at the Intuit Dome, home of NBA side, Los Angeles Clippers in Inglewood, California.

The broadcast began with a welcome from Triple H, Executive Vice President of Talent Relations and Head of Creative at WWE who bellowed: “Are you ready!?” to a packed house at the Intuit Dome. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson then offered a brief speech and paid homage to WWE champion Cody Rhodes as the current star attraction the company and praised WWE star (and former football player) Roman Reigns as ‘Original Tribal Chief’.

Opening the show, Roman Reigns went head-to-head with Solo Sikoa and beat his former enforcer to regain the Ula Fala. In a Bloodline Rules match, Reigns and Sikoa pulled out all the stops, from introducing weapons into the match to having multiple collaborators involved.

The first combatants to enter the ring were Tama Tonga and Jacob Fatu on behalf of Sikoa as Sammy Zayn and Jimmy Uso showed up to give Reigns a hand.

Kevin Owens also got involved before being stopped by Cody Rhodes. The undisputed WWE champion was in charge of getting Owens out of the ring as Roman Reigns finished off the fight.

John Cena begins farewell tour

Wrestling icon John Cena has kick-started his farewell tour and and on Monday he reappeared at the Intuit Dome delivering a jolt of nostalgia to fans around the world tuning into to Netflix.

Other highlights of the night included Rhea Ripley regaining the WWE Women’s World Championship from Liv Morgan with the 28-year-old Australian joined by WWE legend ‘The Undertaker’ to celebrate. In other eye-catching matches, Jey Uso defeated Drew McIntyre and CM Punk did the same to Seth Rollins.
