F1 2023: GP Bahrain results and World Championship standings

Following the completion of the Bahrain Grand Prix, we’ve now got the full list of results and it’s safe to say that while things remained relatively stable at the top, there was definitely some movement in the midfield and the bottom. With no further ado, let’s get into it.

Max Verstappen for the win in Bahrain GP

Though many expected it, Max Verstappen’s title defense got off to the perfect start with a very straightforward win at Sahkir. Even better, is the fact that the dutchman’s Red Bull teammate, Sergio Perez, finished just behind him to give the team a 1-2 finish. This of course brings us to perhaps the biggest mover of the pack, the third placed two-time world champion Fernando Alonso. Indeed, following a problematic start in which he had contact with Lance Stroll, the Spaniard successfully hunted down Lewis Hamilton and Carlos Sainz to secure his spot on the podium. It’s worth mentioning that Alonso’s opportunity came only after a heartbreaking DNF for Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.

On that note, Esteban Ocon and Oscar Piastri were the race’s other retirements, while Sainz, Hamilton, Stroll, Russell, Bottas, Gasly and Albon were the other drivers finishing in the points-paying positions. For a look at the full list of results for the Bahrain GP, see below:
