In the United States, where motorsports competitions like IndyCar and NASCAR are already well-established, interest in Formula 1 has been steadily increasing over the years. Beyond the celebrities, VIPs, and the general glamour that surround racing events in North America, particularly in Miami, the average fan is beginning to develop a passion for the fastest single-seaters on the planet. TV data from the United States confirms this growing enthusiasm.

F1 on the rise in the U.S.

The F1 World Championship website reports that the recent Miami Grand Prix made history in terms of viewership. An audience of 3.1 million tuned in to ABC’s coverage, marking the highest viewership ever recorded in the country. The previous record was set in 2022 at the same venue, Hard Rock Stadium, where Max Verstappen’s victory at the inaugural Florida race attracted 2.6 million viewers.

This represents a 48% increase from last year’s race, which drew 2.1 million viewers and peaked at 3.6 million, including an average of 1.3 million in the key demographic of 18 to 49 year olds.

In summary, the United States is an emerging market that Liberty Media, the owner of F1 and recently MotoGP, has recognized and successfully capitalized on. The country now hosts three major Grands Prix as of last season: Miami, Austin (COTA), and Las Vegas. Everything indicates the F1 has a prosperous future ahead of it on these shores.
