The current leader in the general standings and defending champion celebrated his tenth consecutive triumph on the legendary Monza track, setting a new record. This achievement broke the previous record held by Sebastian Vettel since 2013, who was also a Red Bull rider at the time.

Max Verstappen began the race from the second position on the grid, with Carlos Sainz leading the pack in his Ferrari. However, Verstappen managed to overtake Sainz on the 15th lap and went on to secure yet another victory. Sergio Perez finished second for Red Bull, with Sainz taking the third spot on the podium.

Leclerc and George Russell finished among the top five positions, while Lewis Hamilton received a five-second penalty for his involvement in an incident with Oscar Piastri during the 41st lap. The top ten was completed by Alex Albon, Lando Norris, Fernando Alonso, and Valtteri Bottas.

Sainz secured pole position on Saturday and had a major battle with Verstappen in the race’s early stages. Despite Verstappen’s attempts to overtake on the sixth lap, Sainz held his ground and kept the lead to the cheers of the excited crowd at Monza.

This was mean,” Verstappen told his team.

Max waited patiently for his chance, and on the 15th lap, he seized it when Sainz made a mistake and took the lead. As a result, there was no more competition for first place. Additionally, there was an exciting battle for third place, which again involved the Red Bull and Ferrari drivers. On the 31st lap, Leclerc tried to overtake Sainz, resulting in contact between the two drivers. However, he failed to get ahead of him while coming out of the corner.

At the end of the race, Perez managed to overtake Sainz and secure the second position. However, both Ferrari drivers collided while fighting for a place on the podium. As for the general classification, Verstappen remains in the lead with 364 points, followed by Perez with 219, Alonso with 170, Hamilton with 164, Sainz with 117, Leclerc with 111, and Russell with 109.

The following Formula 1 world championship race is on September 17 in Singapore.
