What’s the weather forecast for the 2022 Mexico City Grand Prix?
The drivers at the Mexican Grand Prix might have to prepare for a wet track, because at the moment, there is a 50 percent chance of rain on race day.
Cold front number 6 has unleashed rains in parts of Mexico City and might affect the Mexican Grand Prix that will take place this Sunday. Sergio Pérez will compete with the support of the public and the hometown advantage, but the downpours could be the unwelcome guest that makes an appearance at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
Yellow Alert raised
The Secretariat for Comprehensive Risk Management and Civil Protection activated the Yellow Alert this afternoon due to the intensity of the rains in areas such as Iztapalapa, Gustavo A. Madero, Venustiano Carranza and Iztacalco, the latter being the place where the Mexican GP will be held.
Various forecasts indicate a probability of rain between 30 and 50 percent, so the drivers involved in the event could face a scenario similar to that experienced in the Singapore GP, where strong storms were also present, delaying the competition that ended up being won by Checo Pérez.
No pointy umbrellas, please
It is important to remember that raincoats, jackets and rain boots are some of the objects allowed to be brought into the building on race day, but not umbrellas with pointed ends.
