George Russell took pole in the British GP held at the Silverstone circuit. The British driver led a trio of local drivers, with Hamilton and Norris trailing, after snatching the top position from his teammate at the last moment.

In doing so, Russell will also lead a Mercedes one-two at the front, following Brackley’s step forward on a Saturday that had it all. From rain in Q1 to dry tyres at the end, it was a complex qualifying session where a driving error relegated Verstappen to 4th place.

Meanwhile, strategy affected Sainz (7th) and Fernando Alonso (10th). On the bright side, Aston Martin made a return with both cars to Q3.
