FORMULA ONE

Which team will Sergio ‘Checo’ Pérez drive for in the upcoming Formula One season?

The Mexican driver confirmed that he still has the option to renew with Red Bull but also has other possibilities and offers.

The season could not have started better for Sergio Pérez, four races with, three podiums, and the dream of winning the F1 runner-up position against the impassive Max Verstappen, leader of the World Championship. The Mexican’s contract with the Red Bull team ends next year without knowing what will happen to his future, although the latest results give a ray of light so that he can continue in Milton Keynes.

It is my fourteenth season in Formula 1. Whatever happens next, I will be delighted with what I have done in this sport, and I think it will be a matter of time. Obviously, the pilot market is moving, and there will surely be a lot of movement in the coming weeks. I hope that within a month, I will know what I will do next year,” commented ‘Checo’ after the race in Japan.

At the moment, the Red Bull leadership, headed by Christian Horner and Helmut Marko, has not made any announcements regarding who will be ‘Mad’ Max’s companion next season. Although both have commented on several occasions about Checo’s great moment since 2024 began, they have not been conclusive about whether or not he will continue as the Dutchman’s squire.

‘Silly Season’ with Carlos Sainz

Discussions have already begun from the paddock regarding a potential driver change in 2025, with Carlos Sainz and ‘Checo’ among the top contenders.

The first contacts with the Mexican driver have already been formalized, but Red Bull is also considering the Spaniard as an option in case they don’t renew his contract. “I’m talking to a few teams; it’s what you should do when you don’t have a contract for the following year yet. We are talking to basically everyone, but we will have to go into more detail and see what options are most realistic and best for me and my future.
