Who is in pole position for 2024 Indy 500? Starting lineup and 33-car field
A new pole record is set for the 2024 Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, with the Chevrolet Penske team taking a front row sweep.
The 2024 Indianapolis 500 has a couple of historic moments even before the event starts on Sunday. Scott McLaughlin set the fastest four-lap average pole speed in the event’s history, clocking 234.220 mph in the number three Pennzoil Team Penske Chevrolet.
The front row is also a historic one as Chevy Penske has taken the entire front row, with Will Power in the number twelve car and Josef Newgarden in the number two car.
Alexander Rossi was best of the rest for Arrow McLaren, setting an average of 233.090mph, almost a quarter of a second off the pace, while his team-mate Kyle Larson took fifth at 232.846mph. AJ Foyt Enterprises driver Santino Ferrucci came in at 232.692mph, which saw him take sixth place.
