Who was the best Red Bull driver in history, by David Coulthard
The Scottish ex-driver and one of the first Austrian Formula One team members made his list of the best Red Bull drivers in history.
In 2005, the British driver joined the Austrian team when they ventured into the quickest caravan during their first season. Between 1999 and 2000, he won five races before finishing second in the Drivers’ Championship to Michael Schumacher in 2001. He secured two more victories between 2002 and 2003 before leaving McLaren at the end of 2004.
In 2005, he moved to Red Bull and achieved their first podium a year later. Coulthard retired from Formula One racing at the end of 2008. After retiring, he continued working with Red Bull as a consultant and joined the BBC as a commentator and pundit for their coverage of Formula One.
Who was the best Red Bull pilot by Coulthard?
Coulthard, who now serves as an ambassador for the team, was asked to name the top three drivers in Red Bull’s history.
Up to this point, Sebastian Vettel has been the most successful, clinching four titles, while Max Verstappen has secured three for Red Bull.
Well, according to David Coulthard, Max Verstappen stands as the premier driver in the team’s history, followed by Sebastian Vettel in second place and Mark Webber in third.
“That has to be Max, Max and Max,” he teased to Motorsport.
He added: “You can’t take anything away from Seb’s four world titles.”
The Red Bull ambassador also expressed that Mark Webber’s significant contributions during his seven-year tenure with Red Bull place him above Daniel Ricciardo.
This weekend, the Formula 1 championship continues with the Dutch Grand Prix.
