Will Lewis Hamilton become a racing team owner in the future?

As reported by The Race, information about this appeared at the beginning of the race weekend in Assen, but several sources have since confirmed it. One of Hamilton’s closest business collaborators was even a guest of the Italian team led by Nadia Padovani during the Dutch Grand Prix.

Liberty Media, the company that owns the commercial rights for Formula 1, is taking over the Moto GP championship. Therefore, it would be great for Liberty to have the most successful Formula 1 driver, who is a big fan of motorcycling, involved in something related to it with a new acquisition, the confirmation of which is expected by the end of the year.

Gresini Racing

Gresini is one of the highly successful teams in the Moto GP Championship. Daijiro Kato, Toni Elias, and Jorge Martin have all won titles in the lower categories for the team. The legendary Fausto Gresini established the Italian team in the mid-nineties. Unfortunately, Fausto Gresini passed away in early 2021 due to COVID-19. His wife, Nadia Padovani, took over the management of the team.

Initially, Gresini was the factory team of Aprilia, but a year later, it became a private team again as a partner of Ducati. Since then, Enea Bastianini, Fabio Di Giannantonio, and Alex Marquez have won the main races and sprints. From the beginning of this year, the team’s colors have been defended by still the most successful active driver, Marc Marquez, who will switch to Ducati at the end of the season.

Hamilton’s affections and business ventures

On the other hand, Hamilton never hid his love for motorcycling, and if he were to buy Gresini, he would undoubtedly have the support of some of his sponsors, perhaps Ferrari, whose ranks he will join next year. Thanks to his former sponsor, Monster, the seven-time world champion had the chance to ride the Yamaha MotoGP prototype since he and Valentino Rossi switched machines at the end of their 2019 seasons.

Hamilton is currently one of the Denver Broncos’ co-owners. He previously owned the X44 team in the Extreme E championship, whose colors were defended by the legendary Sebastian Loeb and Cristina Gutiérrez, who celebrated on the Dakar stages.

The next race of the Moto GP championship will be held this coming weekend for the German Grand Prix, while Formula 1 is at “Silverstone,” where the British Grand Prix is scheduled.
