Celta vs. Osasuna live: LaLiga Santander 2016/2017 - AS.com

Updating to

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the LaLiga Santander fixture between Celta and Osasuna from Balaídos, where we’ll bring you all the action as it unfolds in week 23 of the 2016-17 competition. Kick off at 18:30 (CET) in Vigo.

Preview: Celta vs Osasuna: LaLiga Santander week 23.

Eduardo Berizzo’s side welcome an extremely motivated Osasuna to Balaídos with the visitors having improved considerably in terms of play under new coach Petar Vasiljevic, if not in results. The home side will be looking to improve on their recent run, which has left them out of the Copa del Rey final and on a knife-edge in Europe.

Celta Vigo

The home side receive a team struggling against the tide at the bottom of the division but determined to go down swinging if Segunda is their destination. Celta have been in good form at Balaídos this season and need a positive result after losing 3-2 to Atlético last weekend and 1-0 to Shakhtar in the Europa League in midweek.

Berizzo’s side have picked up 21 of their 30 points so far this season at home and are in the relative safety of 10th in the division, six points off the European places. However, Celta will have to cope without their focal point in attack, John Guidetti, who is suspended.

AS player to watch: Iago Aspas

The side’s top scorer and a key player in Berizzo’s set-up, Aspas is having an exceptional season.

Osasuna

Osasuna’s last victory came in the eight week of the competition, on October 19, in a 3-2 win over Eibar. With Vasiljevic coming in for Joaquín Caparrós the Rojillos have improved slightly and are certainly scoring more goals but that is not translating to points as the defence remains as vulnerable as ever.

Osasuna arrive in Vigo propping up the table and on the back of a 3-1 loss to Real Madrid. The 20th placed side have only 10 points to their name and are eight from safety but have not given up the ghost yet. Vasiljevic will be without Digard, Javi and Miguel Flaño and Mario through injury.

AS player to watch: Sergio León.

The scorer of the goal against Madrid and a thorn in the leader’s side all evening, León is the biggest goal threat Osasuna possess.
