Deportivo La Coruña vs Atletico Madrid: LaLiga week 25 preview
Atletico Madrid can take advantage of Real Sociedad's draw against Eibar on Tuesday night but will face Deportivo La Coruña, who have a new manager at the helm.
Deportivo La Coruña
Following an embarrassing 4-0 loss to Leganés, Deporivo moved to remove Gaizka Garitano and have replaced him with Pepe Mel, who says "when Deportivo La Coruña call, you have to say yes!"
He is facing an uphill battle with a side that has lost four in four and are winless in their last seven. You get the sense that it all went wrong for Garitano after the Real Madrid game when los Blancos came back to win 3-2. This was after a wonderful 5-1 victory over Real Sociedad, but slowly the wheels started to come off.
Mel will be without Guilherme due to injury and Raul Albentosa, who was sent off against Leganés.
Diego Simeone has reportedly committed to staying at Atletico until the end of next season, which is a boost but his side need a few wins to truly establish themselves as favourites to take the fourth spot in LaLiga. Their most recent loss to Barcelona keeping them mired in a battle with Real Sociedad for that much-coveted last Champions League spot.
Stefan Savic is expected to be replaced by Jose Gimenez and Saul Niguez is suspended, making room for Thomas Partey in the eleven. Meanwhile, Fernando Torres will start up front in place of the hit-and-miss Kevin Gameiro.
Deportivo La Coruña vs Atletico Madrid: odds
If you fancy a flutter, a euro on Pepe Mel's side would currently net you around a six euro return, while Atletico Madrid are favourites. You can still get back around 1.60 for a euro punt. A euro on the draw will net you close to four euro.
