10-man Pumas continue to struggle on the road
With ten men they drew 0-0 with Xolos, their 14th game without seeing thea ‘W’ away from home.
The Pumas de la UNAM could not break the losing streak without winning on the road, making it 14 games away from home where they’ve failed to pick up all three points. This time it ended 0-0 with the Xolos de Tijuana in the Clausura 2023, playing some of the game with only 10 men a factor, with Arturo “Palermo” Ortiz’s being sent off in minute 39.

The consecutive games without winning covers three tournaments: two in the Clausura 2023, eight in the Apertura 2022 and four in the Clausura 2022. The last away victory occurred back in April 2022, when they defeated Juárez FC 0-1 with a goal by Brazilian Diogo de Oliveira and with Argentine Andrés Lillini at the helm.
The list of 14 losses and draws as a visitor in this current competition includes the 3-0 defeat of Santos and a 3-1 loss to Chivas. Notable away defeats came in the 2022 Apertura against Juárez FC (3-1) and in the previous Clausura tournament where Chivas thrashed them 4-1 and 3-1.
Who’s next for the Pumas?
Next up for UNAM are Atlas at home on Sunday 5 February before away trips to Tigres and Necaxa, where they’ll be desperate to end the streak.
